About
This newly-established award celebrates the extraordinary work of change agents working to advance gender equity across identities at the University of Minnesota and beyond. The recipient is recognized via the Women's Center media channels and/or at other virtual recognition events hosted by the Women's Center.
Eligibility
Departments/units, faculty and staff groups, and student groups are eligible to self-nominate for the Changemaker Award. Nominees will be considered for work to advance gender equity including (but not limited to) the following: campus advocacy, strategic planning, policy development or implementation, and/or scholarship.
Individuals are not eligible for this award, and should instead apply (where appropriate) for other Women’s Center awards focused on individual efforts: Sharon Doherty Student Leadership Award, Mullen Spector Truax Women’s Leadership Award, Charlotte Striebel Equity Award, Ada Comstock Distinguished Women’s Scholar Award, and the Sara Evans Faculty/Leader Award.
Why the Changemaker Award?
The Changemaker Award recognizes the visionary, innovative, and collaborative work that reminds us to remain hopeful about the world that can be, and inspires us to work together toward that future. This award is different from the Gender Equity Grant in that the Gender Equity Grant contributes funds in support of programmatic, policy or advocacy efforts. The Changemaker Award is not accompanied by a monetary reward and is rather an intentional effort to acknowledge and show our gratitude for colleagues and partners who are working diligently to advance equity for people of all genders.
