University Indigenous Women and Women of Color

About

Indigenous women and women of color at the University of Minnesota play a vital role in the advancement of the mission of the institution as a whole. As one of several staff and faculty affinity groups, University Indigenous Women and Women of Color (UIWWOC) has liaisons in the Women's Center with support from the Office for Equity and Diversity and the Office of Human Resources. UIWWOC welcomes individuals who hold marginalized gender identities (ex., women, gender fluid, nonbinary, and trans women, etc.).

While this group is open to all staff and faculty, regardless of race, ethnicity, or national origin, UIWWOC centers the experiences of Indigenous staff and faculty, staff and faculty of color, and individuals who hold marginalized gender identities (ex., women, gender fluid, nonbinary, and trans women, etc.).

Events

UIWWOC hosts a book club exploring texts by Indigenous and Women of Color authors, a networking breakfast, as well as occasional social/professional development opportunities.
